In the 1850s the now purist chapel was a magnificent knights' hall. A photograph taken around 1920 shows the chapel as it is today, with the Gothic reliefs painted by Filippa Pearsall. According to various accounts, the colourful and intricately painted ceiling was lost in the 1970s, and to the right, hidden by a wooden grate behind the current heating system, there is still a hidden secret entrance to the present chapel. Even earlier, this was probably the entrance floor of the medieval tower, with a raised entrance instead of the large window.
Simply real — the castle chapel
The castle chapel has an area of 42 square metres and can accommodate up to 50 people in concert seating, although other seating arrangements are possible. The room features an organ and two imposing candlesticks, which make the atmosphere even more festive.
