Immerse yourself in the history and art of this special room, which is just as suitable for meetings and events as for cultural performances.
It is historically proven that in the 1700s the walls were still richly painted with 22 family crests from the 15th and 16th centuries, suggesting that this was a room that honoured family history even then. It was not until the 1850s that Robert Lucas Pearsall modernised the drawing room, adding panelling and giving it its present neo-Gothic appearance. Hence the name "Gothic Parlour".
His house was built to such a high standard that even experts need to look closely to see that the section of ceiling above the 1850 bay window on the north side has been reproduced in painted plaster to look deceptively like the original 1451 ceiling.
Our Gothic parlour can do everything - except technology.
The Gothic Room covers an area of 38 square metres and can accommodate a variety of seating arrangements. Inside you'll find a tiled stove, impressive woodcarvings and even a small stage. It is a Gothic-style room that will take you back in time.
