Berg Parlour
Cosy mountain parlour
The Berg Parlour enchants with its view of the picturesque Wartensee pond and the gentle murmur of the stream. The room is characterised by its simple elegance, natural atmosphere, functionality and historical uniqueness.
As a certified nature park, our location is a true paradise for nature lovers. Breakfast will be accompanied by birdsong and the distant cowbells will remind you that you are in an idyllic setting where foxes and hares say goodnight. Enjoy the view of a bald cypress, a plant that thrives mainly in botanical gardens, the nearest known one being in South Tyrol.
The history of the Berg Stube: From the fire in the 19th century to today.
Until 1850, the only access to the Berg Parlour, in the west wing of the castle, was through the roundel, which is now the bike room and was once the entrance to the east wing. Around 1858 there was a fire in this part of the castle. As the castle was built of solid stone, the damage was limited to the staircase, the attic and a few pieces of furniture. Apart from the ridge of the roof, also known as the turret, everything was restored to its original state.
As a precautionary measure, the stream flowing into the former fishpond was dammed so that it could be used to fight the fire if one broke out.
This dammed inflow is now known as the Wartensee pond. The former wooden hut, once the fisherman's house, has been converted into a 'Chlausenhütte' once a year since 2011.
Our breakfast room, a place to relax
The Berg Stube, our breakfast room, is a place of relaxation and enjoyment. Large windows offer breathtaking views of the surrounding forest. Especially in summer, this room is a place to awaken the senses. Sunlight filters through the leaves, bathing the cabin in a warm glow. A gentle brook murmurs in the silence. Birds chirp and cowbells ring in the distance.
The Berg Parlour is bright and spacious, with wooden tables serving a rich breakfast buffet. Here, every guest will find their favourite treat, from fresh fruit to crispy rolls and homemade jams. Whether alone, with family or friends, our Berg Stube is the perfect place to start the day.
